GERUND
What Is Gerund ?
Gerund is a such a from of verb, that ends in 'ing' and has the force of a noun and a verb.
Adding 'ing' to verb's first form.

SUBJECT AND OBJECT
• Subject can either be Noun or Pronoun
• Subject can not have any other form.

To be - (Present) is/am/are
(past) was/were
Example of Gerund.
• Ria's favorite hobby is playing the guitar.
• Competition is trying to do better than you opponent.
SOME SPECIFIC USES OF GERUND/INFINITIVE
1. Be ashamed of + Gerund
Gerund Example - you must be ashamed of lying to her.
would be + ashamed + infinitive
Infinitive Example - I would be ashamed to reject him.
2. Be afraid of : Be afraid of + Gerund + Noun / Pronoun :
Gerund Example - He never swam far out.
be afraid + infinitive
Infinitive Example - she was afraid to jump.
3. Regret, Remember, Forget : when tell about earlier action
Gerund Example - (a) I regret abusing you last night. (abusing is the first action, regret is the second)
(b) I remember reading about this invention in a magazine. (reading is the first action, remember is the second)
Forger + Gerund = negative sentence
(a) I will never forget waiting for him so long.
He will never forget waiting for the robbers to come.
but Regret, remember, forget (earlier action ) then use infinitive
Infinitive Example - I regret to inform that you have again failed this time.
I will remember to post this picture.
I often forget to write some answers.
4. Be sorry
Be sorry + gerund.
Gerund Example - I am sorry for making such a noise in the night.
I am sorry for disturbing you.
Infinitive Example - I am sorry to disturb you.
5. Agree, Agree to :
Agree to (preposition) + Gerund
Gerund Example - He agreed to my leaving early.
She agreed to my coming late for a month.
Infinitive Example - They agreed to accommodate us.
He agreed to wait a year.
