EXAMPLE

VERBAL INPUT : DESCRIPTIVE

SOLVED EXAMPLE

1. XR school recently organized an essay competition on the topic 'Gulf War II was the correct way to carve out a better future for the Iraqis'. Write an article in 150-200 words for a newspaper on the topic.

Ans.

Gulf War II

War by nature is so destructive that nothing positive can come out of it. in my opinion the USA had no valid justification for attacking Iraq. No weapons of mass destruction - chemical or biological -- were found in Iraq. The USA attacked Iraq merely to gain possession of her oil wells. Thus, United States of America has destroyed Iraq's present. There is the question of carving out their future. America's claim that it has established democracy in Iraq sounds hollow when one considers the thousands made homeless and penniless by the intensive bombardment  of all major cities.

What is worse is the irreparable loss of Iraq's heritage. Her past of 5000 years been totally destroyed. The plundering of the museums took place as the US army watched. The leadership has been completely destroyed claim that they are carving out a decent future for the Iraqis. The world does not trust them even though they claim they are 'honorable' men as Mark Antony described the murders of Julius Caesar.

Analysis

1. Heading Brief and to the point. It states the main subject matter of the essay.

2. The first sentence of the introductory paragraph states the writer's opinion that nothing positive can come out of war. The following sentences support and prove the opinion that the U.S. has only brought ruin to Iraq.

 3. The second paragraph continues to elaborate and expand the idea that the gulf war has brought about all round destruction. The first sentences shows an aspect of irreparable destruction caused by war.

The last sentences conclude the essay with a reference to Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. The allusion is a sarcastic reference to the USA's benefactor of the world image.

4. The language and style are solemn in keeping with the subject.
